Back in action for 2015! The new boat is in the water and ready to fish. This year I’ll be full time fishing. I quit the corporate life, and will be on the boat everyday from now on! The lobster gear is going in the water, the stripers are starting to show up, and the haddock bite is off the charts. We blasted out on a rough morning in by brothers 26′ Grady White to check out the situation on Stellwagen. There’s tons of life as usual, bait, birds, whales and lots of fish. The best part is that this year the consistent action seems to be taking place in much shallower water. For the past few seasons the fish have been holding in 200′-300′ of water for the most part, but today we pounded them in 140′-175′. That means less back breaking reeling, less steaming time from port and more fish hitting the deck. Sure there were lots of shorts in the mix, but we filled out 3 per person haddock limit in a few hours. We are ready to roll on the new Hold Fast, who wants to be the first crew? Now we can end every trip by pulling a few lobster traps. I’ll offer all my customers lobsters at a deep discount from what they go for in the market. Let’s gooo!
